What Are My Qualifications
To Write This Book

I have written almost 60 hard-bound and paperback books. My books have been translated into eight languages, won awards and one was offered on national television. My solid writing background assures you I know how to put together well-written materials.

But more importantly, I haven't worked a day job in over 15 years. And in the last eight years I've made my living exclusively from my Internet businesses. We've grossed well over $2,000,000.00. I had to learn the hard way how to make a living Online. But Blog Money Secrets is far more than one man's success story. I can help you achieve results similar, with  money spent on your part — and absolutely no risk for you.

LAST: Tips for Developing Your Writer's Voice

12 Suggestions for Your Article Writing Style

Every Good Writer Has
His Own Style or Approach

The last article talked more about tone, now let's talk about developing your style. There are several different ways to present your information in your posts. Some bloggers will choose one method and stay with it. But you can also mix it up because using different styles will achieve the job of communicating better with your readers. Here are several different styles or ways to present content in your posts:

1. Do Reviews. Here you review a product or a service. You will be providing your opinion and be asking your readers for theirs as well. Now if you are reviewing a product or service that you are selling, you will definitely want to moderate the reader's comments so that some of your reader's do not sell against you.

2. Be Informational.  Here you will simply provide information about a subject, a product, a service, or maybe a news event.

3. Give Case Studies. Here you will give examples (similar to "reviews") showing your readers real world examples of how a product or service or a news story fits into your beliefs and your opinions. The examples you give, if given properly, will endorse your beliefs and hopefully make your readers think. Again, open this up for comments.

4. Compare and Contrast. Another approach to presenting your view (which is another way of reviewing something), is to compare and contrast two or more subjects or ideas or products or services. You will probably want to list the benefits and weaknesses of both. Again, open this up for comments for better results.

5. Give Instructions. Here you will tell your readers how to do something. This assumes you have strong opinions about the right way to do something. You can list the steps that need to be followed in order to accomplish the task or project, whatever it is. Again, leave room for questions because if you miss something, you're readers will want to hear your answers.

6. Do the List. Another way to give instructions is to make your points in the form of a list. You simply make a list of all the ways to do some activity. People just love numbered "how to" lists. For example: "Here are the seven mistakes every husband MUST NOT MAKE to avoid ending up in divorce court." Just the sound of that makes the reader curious to know what those mistakes could be.

7. Be Funny. Some people love to kid around. This can be extremely powerful, if you are able to keep things light and funny. Have you seen Dilbert's blog? VERY funny. You could put up other people's jokes and comment about them.

8. Rant a Little. As we said above, you want to be passionate in your tone. But in your content, look for things or stories or issues about which you can do a little ranting. In other words, be a muckraker some of the time. Strong opinions invite passionate responses. If you feel strongly about something in your niche area, get fired up when you discuss that subject. It might not even be a bad idea to look for subject areas on which you can rant a little. Your fire will probably draw both supporters and detractors. Post them all. Your readers will love it.

9. Be Inspirational. Another approach to your content style is to share inspirational articles that are written to inform, encourage and motivate. We've all seen those inspirational ecards that float around the web with beautiful nature photography and inspirational sayings and quotes. This can be a great theme to add to your posts. Its like throwing light on the good things which we all need to think about in the midst of our busy days.

10. Tell a Story. Nothing is more powerful than a story. As a kid, I remember hearing Vin Scully, the announcer for the Dodgers in Los Angeles, tell a story that took him two innings to finish. Through announcing each play, and the commercial breaks and then the end of several innings, he kept telling this story, and I was spellbound waiting to hear how the story would turn out. This is a powerful approach for building and keeping your audience's attention. If you can tell little stories (or big ones), you'll find that people will be much more interested in listening to what you have to say.

11. Link a Little.  If you find an article somewhere on the Internet which you think would be interesting to your audience, you don't have to copy it all. Simply summarize what it says and end your article with a link to the web page. Lots of links out tend to promote lots of links in. The best way to link out, is to set the link so that it opens in a new window. In this way, you keep your reader on your blog once they close the window to your link.

Later, take a look at the section on trackbacks and comments. These are little bits of technology that will increase your backlinks and your traffic.

12. Buy Into the Power of Comments. You want to set your blog up to allow comments by your visitors. Why? Because having your readers make comments will usually generate a lot of traffic. People love to give their opinions. And if their opinions disagree with yours, that is usually good, unless of course they knock a product you're selling, in which case you will want to moderate your links. To "moderate" simply means that you set up your blog so that comments have to be "approved" by you.

As mentioned above, developing controversy is far better than having everyone agree with everything you say. It keeps things interesting, and it will keep people reading. If the controversy is real enough, it will also tend to get people defending you against your detractors. And believe me, this is good. If your fans feel strongly enough about you, they will not be far from accepting your view about products you recommend.
