Instead of jumping into the fray and jumping for the most common form of advertising with a Google AdSense account, I'm going to suggest that you take a more thorough look at the many different and varied ways of creating income on your blog. There has never been a time like this where there are so many different opportunities are available to make money through blogging — so many different choices that It can be overwhelming. And you want to choose the best programs that will be the most effective for the type of blogs you plan to produce.

1. Choose The Right Advertising Partners. For some people, Google's AdSense will be perfect. But before you settle in on that one source, check out their competition. For many different reasons, one of the other programs may fit better into your blogging future. Or you may want to add several different income sources to AdSense (when it is permitted).

2. Keep Your Eyes Open For Opportunities. The Internet is exploding, not only in usage, but also in ideas. It is impossible to keep up with all of the new technology and ideas that are coming online. But whenever you see a good opportunity that could benefit you, and you have the time and/or resources to use it effectively, by all means, let your income streams grow. 3. Fewer May Be Better In The Beginning. My purpose in sharing so many different ways to make money is not to get you excited about all of them. You can only do so many things, especially in the beginning when you are working by yourself. I want to encourage you to look at many opportunities so you can then select only one or two or three and pursue them with a vengeance. Become an expert in those methods, and build up your passive income streams before moving on to implement the next big program.

4. It Is Important To Diversify. In the long run, the best approach for earning money on the Internet is to build a diversified portfolio of Internet real estate. In the beginning, that real estate will be in the form of a few blogs you create. Later, you will probably want to put up mini-sites and even build products that you can sell. But your basic emoney goals should be to have a wide range of income producing vehicles so that if any one site goes down, you won't be broken by it.

The same thing is true of your advertisers. If your only advertiser is Google's AdSense and you would suddenly have your account suspended, you might be broken by that. But if you have three to six different sources of advertising money coming in, you can survive losing any single company.

Having lots of little sources of income is always better than having one big source that you could lose overnight. I've often said that I like to put a lot of irons in the fire, but the moment one of them gets really hot, I concentrate on it for a while. So in the following chapters I will share with you many different avenues for income.

5. Think Out of The Box. There are many different ways that you can build income beyond advertising. To be really successful, you want to be open to a wide variety of income possibilities. Perhaps you've never even considered things like selling hard goods and T-shirts (with your logo on them) and downloadable products. But all of these are possible once you have your own publisher's network. While you probably won't start off with such offers, keep your mind open to them. The potential for unusual and unique profit centers will only grow for you as time goes on.
